Hands that touch the earth
KAIIRA was born to slow down everyday rituals. Every plate, every cup is a small story where clay is patiently shaped and matured by the heat of the kiln. Far from the noise of mass production, made by hand and little by little.
A story that began with a handful of clay
KAIIRA was born not on a crowded production line, but in a small, light-filled studio. In the beginning there was a single potter's wheel, a few bags of clay and a stubborn belief in slowness. Today we still work with that same stubbornness.
We took our name from the earth culture of Anatolia; from that ancient craft where water, fire and hand come together. We shape every piece by hand, produce in small quantities, and let each one carry its own little imperfections. Because what makes a ceramic special is precisely that trace of the hand.
Why do we make by hand and in small numbers?
We believe that what makes a table beautiful is not abundance but meaning. That is why we prepare our collections in limited numbers; we design pieces that are lasting, repairable and ever more loved as the years pass. Every piece that leaves our hands is made to accompany someone else's everyday ritual.

Small batches
Instead of piles of stock, we produce little and with care. Each collection is made in limited numbers, and when it sells out we do not rush.
Natural material
We use lead-free glazes and natural clays. A way of making that respects both your table and the earth it comes from.

A day in the studio
From clay to table, step by step

Preparing the clay
Natural clay is kneaded by hand to release its air and left to rest until it is ready to be shaped.

Shaping on the wheel
Every form rises one by one under skilled hands on the potter's wheel. It is guided not by measurement, but by intuition and experience.

Drying and retouching
The pieces are dried slowly over several days without cracking; their edges and bases are thinned and smoothed by hand.

First firing
In the bisque firing the clay hardens in a kiln exceeding 900 degrees and becomes ready for glazing.

Glazing
Lead-free glazes are applied by hand. Each colour is carefully mixed in the studio in small batches.

High fire
In the second firing at 1200 degrees the glaze vitrifies; the piece is durable, food-safe and ready for the table.
Like everything that cannot be rushed, a good ceramic also takes time. And we love holding that time in our hands.
